Websites that your customers will love I develop websites that work for you

Webdesign Web Werkstatt

Do you need a website that brings in customers? I am a web designer from Ratzeburg/Germany and develop fast, responsive websites for SMEs. Direct, transparent, effective.

Your website isn't working the way it should? Customers can't find you? The technology is causing problems?

I know these situations. After more than 15 years as a web designer, I have met many frustrated entrepreneurs. The good news: that can be changed.

I am Jan, a freelance web designer from Ratzeburg. I develop websites for small and medium-sized enterprises – without detours, without jargon, without hidden costs.

Typical problems with websites

Let me guess. You have at least one of these problems:

Your website looks like it's from 2010. It's barely usable on a mobile phone. 64.25% of global website traffic now comes from mobile devices – and your site completely ignores that.

The loading time is a disaster. Websites that take longer than two seconds to load lose a potential 60% of their visitors. These are real customers that you are losing.

Or even worse: your website doesn't generate any inquiries. It's like a shop window in a deserted side street.

Sounds familiar?

My approach to web design

I don't make rocket science out of web design. My approach is simple: I listen, understand your business and develop a website that works.

No ready-made templates. No run-of-the-mill solutions. Every website is created individually for your company.

I work directly with you. You can reach me personally – not some project manager who forgets half of it. With me, you get design and technology from a single source.

The process? Uncomplicated and transparent. We start with a conversation about your goals. I'll show you initial drafts. You give feedback. We refine it together. In the end, you have a website that does exactly what it's supposed to do: win customers.

This is how a web design project works

Step 1: We talk about your project

Call me or write me an email. We'll discuss what you need, what your website should do and what your budget is. Costs nothing, commits you to nothing.

Step 2: I'll create a concrete offer

After our conversation, you will receive a detailed offer. It states exactly what you get for what price. No hidden costs, no surprises.

Step 3: Concept and initial drafts

As soon as you give the green light, I develop the concept. What should the navigation look like? What content do we need? I create initial wireframes – these are rough sketches of the website structure.

Step 4: Design and visual creation

Now it gets concrete. I design your website – colors, fonts, images, everything. You see exactly what your website will look like. Don't like something? No problem, we'll adjust it.

Step 5: Development and programming

Once the design is in place, I program your website. Responsive, of course – it works perfectly on all devices. Fast loading times included. Clean code that will still run in two years.

Step 6: Testing and fine-tuning

Before your website goes online, I test everything. Does the contact form work? Do all images load? Does the site look good on an iPhone? Only when everything is perfect do we move on.

Step 7: Launch and instruction

The big moment: your website goes online. I'll show you how to change texts and replace images. With WordPress, you get a complete instruction. And if questions arise later – I'm there.

What I do for you specifically

Frontend development: The visible side

Frontend development means: I make sure that your website looks good and works.

Does that sound banal? It's not. A website that looks great on a desktop but is unusable on a mobile phone won't bring you any customers. I develop websites that work everywhere.

Modern technology? Sure. HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript – but you're probably not interested in that. What counts: your website loads quickly, looks good and your customers find what they are looking for.

UI Design: This is what your website will look like

Eric Wicker

Senior User Experience Consultant

In UI Design I'll show you what your finished website will look like. No more rough sketches – now you see colors, fonts, images.

Does your brand have a certain charisma? I'll bring it to the web. Serious for a law firm, creative for an advertising agency, trustworthy for a craft business.

The design is more than decoration. It guides your visitors through the offer, draws attention to important points and ensures that visitors become customers.

Mobile First: Optimized for your pocket

Over 60% of all website visits come from smartphones. Your website must work perfectly on a mobile phone – otherwise you will lose customers.

I develop according to the mobile-first principle. That means: I plan your website first for smartphones, then for larger screens. The result? A website that looks good and works everywhere.

Touch-friendly buttons, legible fonts without zooming, fast loading times – these are not nice-to-haves, but mandatory. Studies show: Mobile websites with a good user experience have up to 157% higher conversion rates than desktop pages.

UX analysis: Understanding how users tick

A beautiful website is useless if visitors can't find what they're looking for. In the UX analysis, I look at how users experience your website.

Where do they click? Where do they drop off? What confuses them? With this knowledge, I optimize user guidance.

Das Ergebnis: Besucher finden schneller, was sie suchen. Sie bleiben länger. Und sie werden eher zu Kunden. Gut investiertes Geld, wenn du mich fragst.

Maintenance and support: I'm still there for you

A website is never finished. There are updates, small changes, new functions. That's why I offer maintenance packages.

What does that mean? I take care of technical updates, make regular backups and am there if something doesn't work. You concentrate on your business, I on your website.

A little tip: many problems can be avoided if you maintain the website regularly. Like with a car – better to have regular service than to break down.

GDPR and data protection: Legally compliant on the move

Is the GDPR annoying? I understand. Nevertheless, your website must be legally compliant. I'll take care of that.

Cookie banners, data protection declaration, SSL encryption – I implement everything that is necessary. No warnings, no problems.

I make it as user-friendly as possible. A cookie banner doesn't have to cover half the page. A data protection declaration doesn't have to be incomprehensible.

Trends come and go. Some are useful, others are gimmicks. Here are the most important ones for 2025:

Interactive elements increase engagement

Websites are becoming more interactive. Not with annoying pop-ups, but with meaningful elements. A price calculator, a configurator, an interactive map – things like that bind visitors and turn them into customers.

Handmade elements against AI uniformity

Everything looks the same? AI-generated designs are everywhere? That's exactly why handmade, individual designs are becoming more important. Your website shouldn't look like a thousand others.

I develop individual designs that suit you. No stock photos that everyone knows. No templates that appear on every second page.

Accessibility becomes mandatory

The European Accessibility Act will apply from 2025. Websites must be accessible. This is not only a legal obligation, but also clever – you reach more potential customers.

I pay attention to accessibility from the very beginning. Good contrasts, clear structure, sensible navigation. This not only helps people with disabilities, but all users.

Speed is decisive

The attention span is decreasing. If your page takes too long to load, visitors are gone. Studies show: just a 0.1 second faster loading time can increase the conversion rate by 8%.

I optimize your website for speed. Images in the right size, efficient code, good hosting – everything that makes your site fast.

The most important questions

Why I am the right web designer for you

I don't make empty promises. I don't tell you that your website will revolutionize your business. But I develop solid websites that work.

You can reach me directly. No hotline, no ticket system. My number, my email. If there's a problem, I'm there.

I work transparently. You always know what I'm working on. You see intermediate statuses. You help decide.

And most importantly: I understand that your website is not an end in itself. It should bring in customers, generate sales, support your business. That's what I'm working towards.
