A Central Platform for Notable Publishers
W1-Media GmbH unites an impressive array of publishing houses under its umbrella - spanning literature, children's books, and audiobooks. The objective was clear: create a website that accommodates this diversity while streamlining the workflow for individual publishers.
The Challenge
The website needed to fulfill multiple requirements:
- Separate sections for each publishing house
- Integration with the German Books in Print (VLB)
- Independent content management for publishers
- Comprehensive author database
- Integrated news and event management
Technical Implementation
WordPress as Foundation
WordPress was chosen as the content management system. The key advantage: its familiar interface enabled publishing staff to maintain their content independently.
VLB Integration via ONIX
A particular technical challenge was developing an interface with the VLB. The ONIX API integration enabled automatic book data imports and updates.
